MasterMatch for supervisors
FAQ for supervisors
In principle, all persons allowed to supervise of all fields of study can supervise a Master's thesis within the framework of MasterMatch. Members of the Health in Society research network are actively surveyed once a semester about their willingness to supervise and listed on the MasterMatch website according to their answers. Regardless of this, however, all persons entitled to supervise can take over the supervision of a Mastermatch thesis. Feel free to contact us at healthinsociety(at)univie.ac.at to be listed on the website. If a student has contacted you about a specific topic, please ask the student to contact us.
In principle, any person authorised to supervise in your field of study can supervise a master's thesis. The supervisors listed on the MasterMatch page have actively agreed to supervise master's theses on the respective topics. However, you can also approach lecturers from your department to arrange supervision on a MasterMatch topic yourself.
As with any other master's thesis, you will be responsible for the full scientific supervision.
In addition, at the beginning of the collaboration, a joint meeting will take place between you, the student and the practice partner. At this meeting, the cooperation is discussed and the cooperation agreement is signed. The number and composition of further meetings between students, practice partners and supervisors depend on the type and scope of the specific cooperation and are regulated in the cooperation agreement.
Furthermore, at the beginning and end of the collaboration, you will each be asked to complete a short online questionnaire to evaluate your experience with MasterMatch. The time required for this is low.
Practice partners contribute practical questions, provide access to data if necessary or, if necessary, support data collection and share their expertise from their field of work. They will not take on any supervision or assessment tasks and will not interfere with your scientific responsibility as a supervisor. The supervision and assessment of the Master's thesis are entirely up to you. Please note that it is part of the agreement between students and practice partners that the students create a generally understandable short summary with practical relevance for the partners at the end of their work.
Please register by e-mail to healthinsociety(at)univie.ac.at and indicate for which topic or topics you would like to be available as a supervisor.
