Contact the supervisor listed for your desired topic directly, or contact lecturers from your department to arrange supervision for a MasterMatch topic. Once the supervisor agrees to collaborate with you, register with the research network by emailing healthinsociety(at)univie.ac.at with your name, field of study, chosen topic, and supervisor.
Yes. MasterMatch is based on our practice partners from healthcare, civil society, politics, administration, and business providing topics from their fields of work to enable research on practically relevant content. Therefore, to write your master's thesis via MasterMatch, you must choose one of the specified topics. Based on this, you can develop your own specific research question.
The number of meetings is agreed upon individually and documented in the cooperation agreement. We suggest dividing the process into four meetings:
- One meeting to clarify the research questions and the framework conditions of the work;
- a second meeting at which you present your study design and detailed research plan based on this and obtain feedback;
- a third meeting to discuss the current status and open questions;
- and a fourth meeting (either before or after submitting your thesis) at which you present the results.
In principle, any person authorized to supervise in your field of study can supervise a master's thesis. The supervisors listed on the MasterMatch page have actively agreed to supervise master's theses on the respective topics. However, you can also approach lecturers from your department to arrange supervision on a MasterMatch topic yourself.
This depends on the curricula of the respective master's programs. Supervision outside your field of study is usually only permitted to a limited extent, if at all. Please check your Master's program curriculum and study regulations, and contact your SPL if necessary.
