Science works
We share our research findings with society.
Through dialogue with the public and partners in the field, we generate new research topics in a changing world. In this way, we work together to find solutions to the pressing health problems of our time and to build a better future for all – at local, national and international level.
To mark International Women's Day/Feminist Day of Struggle on 8 March 2026, 11 posters from the Research Network clarify popular misconceptions about the menstrual cycle and menopause on Campus.
Jana Nikitin and Christina Ristl from the Department of Developmental and Educational Psychology, Celine Bencker from the Department of Clinical and Health Psychology, and Gisela Ernst from the Department of Constitutional and Administrative Law, Section of Medical Law, address questions such as:
- Are menopausal symptoms solely hormone-related?
- Does PMS make me more susceptible to stress?
- Do I have to go to work with menstrual cramps?
The posters are attached to lampposts and can be read as you walk by. They bring scientific findings into the city and convey them in clear language to students, passers-by and visitors on site.
- Duration of the exhibition: 6–31 March 2026
- Where? Campus, Courtyard 1
- In German
Understanding health through play
The educational game “The Health Race” allows players to experience health inequalities and the complex interplay of various factors influencing individual health in a playful way. It takes into account not only the individual actions and social position of the players, but also available resources and structural conditions.
“The Health Race” was developed by the Health in Society Research Network for workshops, teaching and training courses. Teachers at the University of Vienna and other universities can borrow several copies in German or English for their lectures. Upon request, staff from the Research Network will attend the session and supervise the game.
- Language: German or English
- Players: 2–4 people
- Duration: approx. 10 minutes per round
